💌 Open when you need me

The words you'll want to hear, in their voice, whenever you need them

For the happy days and the hard ones. They leave a message for the moments that matter, and you open it when the moment comes: buying your first home, your wedding day, a day you need to be strong. Again and again, for as long as you need.

“I'm proud of you.” “Congratulations.” “You've got this.” Ask them to say it now, so you can hear it later.

A finished book

Every question answered. Flip through one.

This is Abuelo Tomás's book, filled in from the first question to the last: childhood in Jalisco, the bus north, fifty-two years with Elena, and the recipes nobody wrote down. Turn the pages, tap a chapter, and press play where you see his voice.

Why I built it

I lost my mom.

Before that, I lost her a little at a time. Alzheimer’s took her stories before it took her. The ones I thought I’d always be able to ask about. Where she grew up. What she was like at my age. The things only she knew.

I always thought there would be more time to ask.

After she was gone, the hard days were the hardest part. I didn’t need advice. I needed her. Her voice. Something from her I could go back to and hear her say, “You’re going to be okay.”

And the good days hurt too. When I bought my house, the person I most wanted to hear say “I’m proud of you, congratulations” was the one person who couldn’t.

So I built Still Telling.

It asks the people you love one gentle question at a time and keeps their answers in their own voice. It becomes a book your family keeps forever, and every story has a QR code you can scan to hear them tell it. They can leave messages to open when you need them, for the hard days and for the proud ones.

I can’t get my mom’s stories back. But you still can.

Ask them now, while they’re still telling.

RaymundFounder, Still Telling

“I would give anything to hear the story one more time, in their voice.”

The stories are right there. How they met. The house they grew up in. The recipe nobody wrote down. They're waiting for someone to ask.

We always think there will be more time. Still Telling gives you a reason to ask now, while you can still laugh about it together.

Their voice matters as much as their words. The laugh in the middle of the story. The way they say your name. You keep all of it.

How it works

As easy as a phone call with someone you love

No writing skills needed, no long forms. Five minutes and one question is enough.

  1. Ask one question

Pick from 175 thoughtful questions in 16 chapters, from childhood to advice for the people they love. Family can add their own: "Grandpa, what was your first car?"

  2. They answer their way

Talk and it's recorded in their own voice, or type a few lines. Add an old photo and tell the story behind it. Skip anything, come back anytime.

  3. They decide who gets what

Share a story with everyone, with one person, on a date, or only after they're gone. Letters for later open on a wedding day or a 30th birthday.

Questions

Good to know

Who is it for?

Anyone whose stories you want to keep: a mom, dad, grandparent, tía, tito or a dear friend, of any age or gender. The storyteller chooses what they're called in the book.

Can I tell my own stories?

Yes, for anyone you choose: a partner, your children, nieces and nephews, a best friend, a godchild, the friends who became family. Choose "My own stories" when you start, add the people you're keeping them for, and decide what each person receives: now, on a date that matters, or after you're gone. With Heirloom, anyone you choose can get their own printed copy.

What if they're not good with technology?

They don't need to be. Answering is one big button: talk or type. Many families sit together and the helper holds the phone. Answering by phone call is coming.

Who can see the stories?

Only the people the storyteller chooses, story by story. Some can be shared now, some on a date, and some held until after they're gone, with safeguards so nothing goes out by mistake.

What are "Open when" messages?

Messages the storyteller leaves for the moments their family will need them most, happy and hard: when you buy your first home, get married or hold your first baby, and when you need to be strong, miss them, or need to remember how much you're loved. They aren't tied to a date. Each one can be opened anytime, as many times as needed, or held until after the storyteller is gone.

Is there a printed book?

Yes, with Heirloom. When the storyteller is ready, their stories are printed as a color hardcover of up to 200 pages (most books are 80 to 140), with a QR code on each story that plays their voice. Order extra copies for the whole family for $69 each. Answered nearly everything? Longer books can print as a second volume. Every plan can also read the book on screen and download it.

Can they change an answer later?

Yes. They can see every question, read or replay any answer, and change the words, record a new version, or swap the photo.

Is the free version really free?

Yes. Start a book now with no sign-up. Today's free preview keeps everything on your own device, so download a keepsake now and then. Accounts with safe cloud storage come with the paid launch.

Can I give it as a gift?

Yes. Choose Keeper or Heirloom in the pricing section above and add their name and a note at checkout. You and the storyteller decide when they start: right away, or on a day that means something. Questions? Email info@stilltelling.com.

Does it work in Spanish?

They can answer in any language today, and the recording is always kept as-is. Questions and the app in Spanish are coming for launch.
